No more tax on gifts to employees or directors?
There are new rules, which can mean no more tax on gifts to employees or directors.
For example, do you want to buy an employee a gift and not pay any tax?
Before the new rules were introduced you may have incurred tax and National Insurance on providing a gift to an employee
However, recent changes to the tax rules known as trivial benefits, could result in you paying no tax or national insurance for the following examples:
- Buying an employee a gift
- Taking a group of employees out for a meal to celebrate a birthday
- Flowers on the birth of a new born baby
- A bottle of wine for an employee for Christmas
- Gift vouchers (but not cash or a cash voucher)
The amount of each gift must be below £50 (including VAT) and there is no annual limit
If you are a director or other office holder then there is an annual limit of £300 (including VAT)
